Bid Or Buy How To - I Don't Want A Non-Rated Bidder To Win An Item, What Should I Do?
I don't want a non rated bidder to win an item! there is a another bidder with a good rating and i rather sell to him!can i delete the bid?
Open your "My bidorbuy" link, then under "selling", open your currently "open items"; veiw "bids and sales" for the item in question... On the right of the bidders, there is a blue link named "delete". You may delete the bid, however, under the terms and conditions of using the site, you will be asked to provide a viable reason.
A list of option reasons will be provided while deleting the bid, and a mail
will be sent to the bidder informing them that thier bid has been deleted and
the reason given.
Good Luck.
True, however, if the non-rated buyer turns out to be a non-payer, or as in some cases, non-existent (an increasing problem), the whole process of snc's etc takes too long, and there are no guarantees that the next higher bidder will accept the offer of purchase. Some people rely on the income they make on BoB and can not afford to carry the cost of delays or non-payment. My suggested solution was that BoB re-evaluate the verification process.
Anyone can create a user account (some non-too-honest sellers have several they use to make false bids on their own items), especially using a free e-mail account. There should be a waiting period (length dependant on in or outside of SA), and during that period, BoB should randomly e-mail and/or phone the details given during registration to verify the legitimacy of new users. Admittedly, this is not a fool proof suggestion, but it will create a more trusting attitude among users.
In the past, I had a non rated buyer who won an item, and after several attempts at communication, it was discovered that the phone number given was false, and address given turned out to be a car dealership who had never heard of the person, but claimed that this wasn’t the first time this had happened. (Anybody can get addresses, numbers, and names from a phone book, or on-line white pages, or even from various internet sites).
I don’t blame the user for being cautious toward an unrated user at all. Sometimes it works out well (I have recently had two fantastic first time buyers), and sometimes not (especially with outside of SA users). If the security measures were in place and the sellers felt more confident about trading, and BoB was seen to be taking a harder line approach to registering new users (and against some current untrustworthy buyers and sellers), the site would be a far better place, and in turn, would attract more users who may at present be cautious due to the “stories” they hear and read about unscrupulous traders.
BoB is about to launch a huge ad campaign to promote the site and it’s special promotions, but all this will count for little if people come to the site and have a bad experience (we have already lost many users due to bad practises). Unfortunately, the other side of the sword also dictates that if first time buyers find that nobody is willing to sell to them, they too will leave!! Hence the dire need to create a more secure environment for both sellers and buyer, new and old
