Be Careful Of First Time Buyers On Bid Or Buy

I am not saying refuse all new buyers, but do think that stricter registration measures should be put in place. It is far too simple for people to register a username. And as stated above, they are now even using someone else's real name, address, and contact details as their own. I think that all generic free e-mail accounts should be treated with more caution.

If BoB verified new users at random, they may be able to start establish who is actually legitimate and who isn't. Maybe even impose a waiting period of 7 days to activate an outside of South Africa account, and four days for locals (especially with free mail accounts).

A phone call or an e-mail here and there would be a good first step in weeding out the trash.

Personally though, from past experience, I get nervous when a new buyer has the winning bid.

The process of establishing that the buyer isn't real, serious, and genuine simply takes too long. Some sellers can not afford to wait for the SNC process to complete itself before being able to re list the item.

Anyone with some ideas as to how we can start sorting out this problem... Please add your ten cents worth.
